7-fjellsturen: the day Bergen crosses its seven mountains

Jander Soares ·

A group hike through the city’s mountains, with a choice of 3, 4 or 7 peaks. The next edition is scheduled for 30 May 2027.

Bergen is known as the city between seven mountains. During 7-fjellsturen, that phrase becomes a practical invitation: put on your boots and cross the byfjellene with thousands of other people. It is one of those local celebrations where the scenery is part of the programme.

The full route crosses Lyderhorn, Damsgårdsfjellet, Løvstakken, Ulriken, Fløyen, Rundemanen and Sandviksfjellet. It covers roughly 35 kilometres and 2,500 metres of total ascent; the organizer gives an average walking time of 8 to 12 hours. It is a beautiful adventure, but requires preparation, weather-appropriate clothing and a full day set aside.

For anyone who wants to participate without taking on the whole route, there are also 3- and 4-mountain options. You can experience the event’s energy and choose a suitable challenge. Check the routes and conditions directly with Bergen og Hordaland Turlag before registering.

The 2027 edition is scheduled for Sunday, 30 May. If you will be in Bergen then, put it in your calendar, whether to hike or simply watch one of the city’s most beautiful traditions.
