Behind the guide
Hello! I'm glad you're here.
A Brazilian, a Norwegian and a story that began in Portugal.
My story with Norway began far from its mountains and fjords. It began in Coimbra, Portugal, where I went to study and met a Norwegian woman who would change the course of my life.
After living together in Brazil, we decided to begin a new chapter in Bergen. We arrived in 2020, during the pandemic. Little by little, amid empty streets, a new language and the Norwegian culture I had heard about from my wife, an unfamiliar city became our home.
Our two children were born here. Today our family is a little Brazilian and a little Norwegian — a mix that shapes how I see travel and the people I meet.
From Brazil to the fjords
Tourism was part of my life before I moved to Norway. I studied business administration and worked at Goiás Turismo, where I learned about the work behind a destination and the value of local culture and experiences. I also lived in Florianópolis, where tourism, nature and everyday life meet.
Since 2023, I have worked directly with visitors from around the world, especially in Bryggen. The same questions come up again and again: what can you do in a day, where should you eat, what works when it rains or when you have children, and how do you find practical information without speaking Norwegian?
Why I created this guide
When I arrived, I also had to learn my way around a new city and culture. I know how tiring it can be to search several websites, translations and changing opening hours for a simple answer.
Over time, I got to know Bergen as a newcomer, resident, father, nature lover and someone who speaks with tourists every day. I made this guide to bring itineraries, attractions, museums, parks, shops, restaurants, events and practical tips together in one place.
I also want to make room for local businesses and places beyond the usual itineraries. Everyone travels with different interests, time and budgets; the guide is here to help you shape a visit that works for you.
A little piece of Bergen, in your language
This project grew from a wish to help Brazilians and other Latin American visitors discover the city that means so much to me. Language, prices, weather and transport can raise questions before a trip even begins.
It is also for cruise visitors, people visiting family and residents looking for something new. You can explore the guide in Portuguese, English or Spanish. I hope it helps you discover Bergen with more confidence and curiosity.
Welcome to my Bergen!
Bergen has endless rainy days, mountains that change with every season, historic streets and nature that keeps surprising me. I am still discovering the city, and this guide is my way of sharing that experience. I hope you spend less time searching and more time experiencing Bergen.
Velkommen til Bergen! 🇳🇴❤️
